I hate to see Lorenzo be handed another victory because of mistakes by other riders. But then again, in the rain it’s all about who can finish. Simoncelli had it… but didn’t finish. Edwards had 3rd place locked down… but didn’t finish. Spies was cruising to a podium… but didn’t finish. That Rossi pass was wildly inappropriate considering he had 20 laps to go when he started making his way to the front. Just not a smart thing from a 9 time champ. The season starts now!
Yeh I think he was overly excited about how fast he was compared to everyone else. Coming from 12 on the grid to a rostrum place within 4-5 laps is no small feat within that talent pool. On top of that, after the fall he manages to finish in 5th place after rejoining at about 12th or 13th.
Bummer that Simoncelli crashed out… It was cool to see him out front for most of the race… especially out in front of Lorenzo!
